I’m
not in the habit of posting photos that aren’t in focus. But sometimes, the
only way to capture the essence of something powerful is to show the subject in
action – a veritable blur of brawn.
That’s
the only way to photograph Rob Williamson, drummer for the Austin-based Eric Tessmer Band. The post on the band’s Facebook page pretty much sums it up –
“Punisher-of-the-drums.”
Yup.
I
have no idea what those drums did to deserve the beating he inflicts upon them
night after night. All I know is this: you have to see this band live. Go see
them to hear the stellar Tessmer rip it up on guitar and vocals and newest
member Danny G on bass and vocals.
Go
to hear the music, but more importantly, go to see Williamson own the drums. I
guarantee you have never seen anyone play like he does. Words and photos cannot
do him justice.
